The net wagering market in the UK has increased two fold in five years, with more than one million gamblers regularly gambling using the internet. According to research carried out by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport, British bettors make up around 1/3rd of the Old World’s approximated total of three point three million internet bettors.

The average cash amount spent by every punter is approximated at £1,000, with the European industry now valued at £3.5bn each year.

Among the 70 online betting web sites in the UK, few are gaming web sites promoting casino card games such as poker and blackjack. A better part of the globe’s two thousand online betting casinos are based in locations with dubious web betting rules. Antigua and Costa Rica account for more than 1,000 sites between them.

The Government in the United Kingdom is looking to introduce practices and a tax setup to streamline the operating of the online gambling sector. With such laws in place, internet gaming activities would be monitored and the industry can hope to achieve even greater heights in the near future.
